Story time at the library

I have been wanting to take Thomas for story time at the library for months now. Months. In fact, before the baby was born I wandered into the children's section and the little old ladies there pretty much made me pinky-swear that I'd bring Thomas in once he was old enough to get out and about. Due to a serious of unfortunate events (work, weather, the holidays (gah!), etc.), we went for the first time last week.

There were three other kids there - all girls! One of the girls showed a little too much interest in him when we first sat down in the story circle and he got shy but opened up pretty well after that. I tried to get him to pay attention to the other babies that were crawling and walking but I'm not sure that any of it rubbed off.

We went again this week!! It's nearly every Tuesday at 10:30. That time generally works well for T-baby's schedule. This time, only one kid was the same from last week but there was a new one too! Since my goal for story time is really for him to get used to other kids and interact with them, new kids are just fine.

I'm not going to lie, I wish there were more stories at story time. There's only one story and about a million songs. More people have heard me sing since Thomas came along that I have met in my life. I sing to him in the grocery store when he gets upset, I sing to him while we are walking, and now I sing to him at the library. For a girl that can't carry a tune in a bucket, I feel sorry for the world's ears. From what I can tell, story time will be more about the story as Thomas gets older. For now, I'll just keep reading to him at home for his brain development and taking him to the library for his friend development....

Entranced at the first story time

Less impressed at the second story time...

8 months!!

Thomas turned eight months old on the 6th. Month 7 was a HUGE month for T-baby. We went to several Christmas parties, met Santa, wrapped (and unwrapped) lots of presents, and had our first Christmas with a child. December really was magical. Even with the fireworks.

Thomas weighs about 18.5 pounds, wears 9 month clothes, and size 3 diapers. I'm not sure how long he is but some 9-month pants are too short.... He wears 12-24 month socks! He still has just two teeth. He babbles and sings (and does some screaming) all day long. His absolute favorite new thing to do is swing. The infant swings are a little roomy for him so we have to add some padding, but he loves it! He also went to a Saints game! The Saints lost but so it goes...

He's been working on crawling and drinking out of a sippy cup. He hasn't mastered either, but he sure likes trying!

Thomas also started solid foods this month! His first food was the delectable green pea. By the third or fourth day, he liked it! He also tried butternut squash before we decided that his little digestive system wasn't ready for food and stopped for a couple weeks.
